We want to welcome our virtual students and their families to their new school communities. Once it was decided we would open two new virtual schools this September – one of our first jobs was naming the schools.
This month, our Board of Trustees, in collaboration with Father Peter Sanders, school board staff and the parent community, voted to name our virtual schools Blessed Carlo Virtual School and St. Josephine Virtual High School.
Blessed Carlo Virtual School will be a permanent virtual elementary school for students in Kindergarten to Grade 6. The school is named after Blessed Carlo Acutis.
St. Josephine Virtual High School will be a permanent virtual intermediate and high school for students in Grades 7 to 12. The school is named after St. Josephine Bakhita.
These names will honour the spirit of a Catholic virtual learning environment and reflect an inclusive community as a whole. We look forward to welcoming these two official schools to the OCSB family in September!
