Due to COVID-19, volunteers and visitors are not allowed in our schools at this time. Although we do not know when volunteers are allowed to go into our schools, we still emailed out an offence declaration survey to allow volunteers to update their status and information for the 2020-2021 school year.

Our parent and community volunteers are integral members of the Ottawa Catholic School Board family and we look forward to being able to welcome you back into our schools when it is safe to do so. You are valuable partners in education who help our students learn, play and explore.

How to volunteer

Step 1: Get a vulnerable sector check

To volunteer at an OCSB school, you need a current (within 6 months) Level 3 vulnerable sector check from Ottawa Police. You can request a letter from volunteers@ocsb.ca to reduce the required fee. Send a copy of your receipt to your school’s Office Administrator and we will reimburse the fee.

Step 2: Complete our volunteer application

Complete our online application and include an electronic copy of your Vulnerable Sector Check. It usually takes one week to process. You will receive an email confirmation once you’ve been added to our approved list of volunteers.

Step 3: Renew your volunteer status every year

To keep volunteering, you will need to complete our annual offence declaration survey. This survey takes less than a minute to complete and will allow you to keep volunteering without submitting a new Vulnerable Sector Check. You will receive the offence declaration from ocsb.surveys@ocsb.ca. Check your spam folder if you don’t receive it!

If you have questions about the offence declaration survey or would like to opt-out of the volunteer program, please email volunteers@ocsb.ca.
