Policies and procedures
The Ottawa Catholic School Board’s policies and procedures serve to ensure the health, safety and security of all students and staff. They outline the Board’s operation as an academic institution and employer. Our policies provide a structure to govern student and employee behaviour, Board affairs and governance, and procedures for resolving concerns or complaints. All policies are approved by the Board in public meeting sessions and are updated on a regular basis.
Policy review process for the public
The Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) has established a policy review process to allow students, parents, staff, and members of the OCSB community to submit feedback regarding Board policies currently under review. The policies under review are listed below.
Board policies are normally reviewed by the committee on a 5-year cycle, or sooner if there are legislative changes requiring a review of the policy.
There are three possible outcomes from each policy review:
- Status quo, the policy is reviewed and determined that there are no changes needed
- Updates – the policy is updated to reflect changes over the five years or changes in legislation
- Rescinded – the policy is deemed no longer relevant as it is covered by other policies or legislation
Parents may choose to submit feedback directly to the PIC or CSPA representative that sits on the committee, or you may submit your feedback online via this website. Others interested in providing feedback on Board policies may also use this form to share your recommendations. To be considered, your submission must identify your name, phone number, email address, residential address, relationship with the OCSB, and the name of the policy under review.
A list of the policies under review can be found below.
