Proposed Changes to Catholic School Attendance Boundaries in the Fernbank Community

New Catholic Elementary School coming to the Fernbank community!

We are adding Fernbank Catholic Elementary School to the OCSB family in 2023! In October 2020 we received funding for a new 507-pupil school that will serve students residing in the Fernbank community. The school will serve grades JK to 6 and will be located at 60 Defence Street. Like all OCSB elementary schools, this new school will offer French Immersion programming. Extended Day programs for before and after school care have been proposed in addition to a potential Pre-School Childcare Centre. Construction of the new school is scheduled to break ground in spring 2022 and will be completed for the 2023-2024 school year.

Proposed changes

The proposed attendance boundary for the new Fernbank Catholic Elementary School will impact the current attendance boundaries of Guardian Angels, Holy Spirit, and St. Martin de Porres Catholic Elementary Schools. Depending upon where they live, grade 6 students residing in the Fernbank community are currently directed to either Sacred Heart or Holy Trinity High Schools. We are proposing that the Fernbank Catholic Elementary School attendance boundary become an option area to attend either high school.

The maps below show the general location of the new school and the proposed boundary changes. You can learn more about these boundary changes in our consultation document.
