At the OCSB, faith grows in the everyday moments we share. Advent gives us a chance to pause and make a little more room for God in our hectic lives. It prepares our hearts for Christmas, but it also reminds us that Christ is already near, already guiding us, and already working through the simple ways we care for one another.
This Advent, ‘Building Bridges of Faith’ Invites Us To:
Wait, Don’t Hurry
Advent teaches us to slow down and trust that God is present in the quiet moments. We do not have to rush to find God. God is already here.
Listen, Not Fill
The Advent story is full of thoughtful listening. Mary reflecting. Joseph discerning. Prophets waiting in hope. We are invited to listen to, noticing how God speaks through stillness, kindness, and the people around us.
Hope, Not Despair
When life feels uncertain, Advent reminds us that light is near and God is faithful. Hope is the bridge that carries us forward.
This season shows us how God reaches out to us. God draws close, walks beside us, and meets us exactly where we are with steady love.
As we move through December, we invite our families and school communities to reflect:
- How can we help build the bridges God begins?
- How can our faith guide the way we speak, act, and care for others this Advent season?
Prayer Intention for December
Our joy comes from knowing that God is with us. Emmanuel is here. Advent invites us to recognize this truth and welcome it again in our homes, classrooms, and hearts.
We pray for a faith that feels alive and growing. May it draw us closer to God and closer to one another. May the light of Christ guide our steps with hope and help us become bridges of love in our community.
Living the Theme Together
Last month, we focused on Action and how compassion becomes real when our words and choices help others feel seen and supported. This month, we turn to Faith, remembering that God’s presence connects us, strengthens us, and brings light into our world.
As we journey through Advent, may our faith inspire patience, presence, and peace. Share how your school or family is living this theme using #ocsbBuildsBridges. You can revisit last month’s reflection on Action here: Building Bridges of Action – November Reflection
