Through faith-based learning and Indigenous teachings, we integrate sustainability into both our curriculum and daily operations. Our goal is to inspire climate action and build an inclusive, environmentally responsible community that values diversity and cares for our common home.

A Framework for Environmental Education
Our Eco-Framework provides a structure for the OCSB and its schools to address environmental issues while educating our students on the importance of caring for our common home and living in reciprocity with the Earth. By focusing on three areas — Environmental Leadership, Teaching, Learning & Engagement, and Resource Management — the framework enables us to cultivate a culture of respect and environmental responsibility, nurturing a sustainable future for generations to come.
Certifying Our Schools
Over half of our OCSB schools have been certified as Ontario EcoSchools.
This program recognizes schools across the province for their achievement in environmental education and action.
Beyond the Classroom
Our Board’s environmental initiatives extend far beyond the classroom. We have a highly successful Energy Management Plan in place, helping us reduce energy use and save money.
Since 2016, the Sustainable Schools program has consistently ranked the OCSB among the top ten energy-performing school boards in the province.
