A new chapter is beginning in Stittsville! The Ottawa Catholic School Board is celebrating the groundbreaking of a new Catholic elementary school in the northern portion of the Fernbank community, marking an exciting milestone for local families and the growing community.
Located at 620 Triangle Street, the new school will welcome students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6, creating 507 new student spaces. The school will offer French Immersion programming, with proposed Extended Day Programs for before and after-school care, as well as a preschool childcare centre with 39 licensed childcare spaces. The school is currently scheduled to open for the 2027–2028 school year.
“We are grateful to the Province of Ontario and to MPP George Darouze for their continued support and investment in these important projects for families in the Fernbank community,” said Mark D. Mullan, Chair of the OCSB. “These new Fernbank Catholic elementary and secondary schools will provide welcoming, faith-based learning environments close to home and will support student well-being, strong community connections, and high-quality Catholic education for students and families.”
More than a new building, this investment represents an opportunity to grow alongside the vibrant and expanding Stittsville community. As more families make Fernbank their home, this new school will help meet the growing need for accessible, high-quality Catholic education close to home. It will be a place where children can build lasting friendships, discover their strengths and develop a sense of belonging, while bringing families and neighbours together through shared experiences, faith and community.
As we Nourish New Beginnings, this groundbreaking is a meaningful reminder that strong communities grow when we invest in their future. We’re excited to watch this new school take shape and look forward to the day its doors open, welcoming a new generation of students and families to learn, grow and thrive together. 🌱
