A Season of Celebration
Across the Ottawa Catholic School Board, caps and gowns are appearing in hallways, gymnasiums are being transformed for ceremonies, and families are gathering to celebrate an important milestone: graduation.
For the OCSB Class of 2026, this moment represents far more than the completion of high school.
These graduates began their educational journey as children, walking nervously into classrooms, holding a parent’s hand, carrying oversized backpacks, and wondering where they belonged. Today, they leave our schools as confident young adults shaped by faith, friendship, learning, service, and perseverance.
More Than a Diploma
They are artists, athletes, apprentices, future nurses, engineers, educators, entrepreneurs, electricians, caregivers, and community leaders.
Some found their voice on a stage. Others discovered their gifts in a skilled trades shop, a robotics lab, a chapel, a co-op placement, or on a playing field. Many quietly changed their schools through simple acts of kindness, inclusion, leadership, and compassion.
This graduating class has grown up during a time of extraordinary change. They learned to adapt, support one another, and keep moving forward even when the path ahead felt uncertain.
A Community Behind Every Graduate
Along the way, students were supported by families, educators, chaplains, support staff, parish communities, coaches, friends, and mentors who believed in them every step of the way.
And that support mattered.
Because graduation is never the story of just one person. It is the story of a community that helped a young person grow into who they are meant to become.
Stories That Define Our Schools
Across OCSB schools, graduates have led social justice initiatives, excelled in athletics and academics, represented their schools in the arts and skilled trades, volunteered in their communities, and supported younger students with compassion and leadership.
Others overcame personal challenges with courage and determination, inspiring everyone around them.
Each story is different. Every journey matters.
Honouring Achievement and Character
In the weeks ahead, schools across the OCSB will celebrate graduates through ceremonies, scholarships, awards, prayers, performances, and traditions that recognize both achievement and character.
These celebrations honour not only academic success, but also resilience, service, faith, generosity, and the everyday contributions that strengthen school communities.
A Message to the Class of 2026
To the OCSB Class of 2026: thank you.
Thank you for your leadership, your energy, your compassion, your courage, and the example you have set for younger students following behind you.
Your schools are better because you were part of them.
As you begin the next chapter of your journey, know that you will always remain part of the OCSB family. Wherever life leads you next, carry forward the values, relationships, and experiences that helped shape you here.
Congratulations, graduates.
May God continue to guide you, strengthen you, and walk beside you in all that comes next.
