OCSB Celebrates Catholic Education Week 2025: Pilgrims of Hope

From May 5 to 9, OCSB schools will join Catholic school communities across Ontario in celebrating Catholic Education Week. This year’s theme, “Pilgrims of Hope,” invites us to journey together in faith, service, and joy—living out Pope Francis’ call to bring hope to the world.

Walking Together in Faith

Each day of the week invites reflection on how we live our faith in action:

  • Monday: Honouring Human Dignity
  • Tuesday: Caring for Creation
  • Wednesday: Responding to Poverty
  • Thursday: Serving in Solidarity
  • Friday: Living as Peacemakers

Through prayer, classroom conversations, and acts of service, our students and staff will explore how small actions can make a big difference.

What to Expect Across OCSB Schools

Our schools will come alive with community events, liturgies, and creative celebrations that reflect our Catholic identity:

  • Masses and Liturgies: School and parish communities will gather in prayer, including a virtual board-wide Mass.
  • Acts of Service: From food drives to “Clean the Capital” clean-ups, students will put compassion into action.
  • Open Houses and Family Events: Families are invited into our schools to celebrate learning and community.
  • Student Showcases: Artwork, music, STEAM, and talent performances will highlight the gifts and voices of our students.
  • Wellness Activities: With Mental Health Week happening alongside, expect mindfulness moments, kindness campaigns, and wellness workshops.
