Friday Feeling | The Season of Gratitude

There’s something special in the air. It’s the changing leaves, the pumpkins, the familiar traditions and the chance to slow down and appreciate the people and moments that make life meaningful. As we head into the long weekend, this week’s #ocsbFridayFeeling is all about finding joy in the season and recognizing how much we have to be thankful for.

Pumpkins became the inspiration for playful phonics games, French storytelling, creative STEM challenges and even a special Kindergarten pumpkin patch. Outdoors, little explorers collected acorns and pinecones, climbed and balanced their way through new adventures, and let their imaginations lead the way. Meanwhile, young writers celebrated their first journal entries, senior science students put their curiosity to the test, and enthusiastic runners welcomed another season of friendship and fun.

Of course, Thanksgiving is about more than colourful leaves and pumpkin-filled classrooms. It’s also about gratitude, generosity and taking care of one another. Students put those values into action through a food drive supporting local families, reminding us that even a small contribution can make a meaningful difference. It’s a beautiful reflection of the community and compassion at the heart of Catholic education, where caring for others is among the most important lessons we can learn.

As we Nourish New Beginnings, Thanksgiving offers a welcome opportunity to pause and appreciate what’s already growing around us: new friendships, growing confidence, supportive communities and the everyday kindness that brings us together. Whether you’re gathering around a table, enjoying the autumn sunshine or simply spending time with people you love, we hope this weekend brings a little rest, plenty of gratitude and a reminder of all the good things worth celebrating. 🧡🍂🎃
