Friday Feeling | Courage in Every Corner

Brave looks different on everyone. This week, it wore cleats and a football jersey, a barista apron, rubber boots, and chalk-dusted hands in the schoolyard. This week’s #ocsbFridayFeeling is a celebration of every single shape it took.

Some bravery is loud. A group of girls stepped onto a touch football field and competed with everything they had, most of them having never played the sport just weeks ago. That kind of courage deserves to be celebrated.

Some bravery grows slowly. Across our schools, students in the Social Entrepreneurs Program have taken on real leadership and responsibility, and watching them grow into that confidence has been something special.

Some bravery is wonderfully, joyfully messy. Students designed forest entryways, tested ramps through trial and error, and chased kites across the schoolyard. A French immersion class learned about dairy farming, churned their own butter and discovered where their food comes from. Art Day meant markers, chalk, and the wide open outdoors. For kindergarteners, bravery looked like yoga, marble runs, mud kitchens, and magnet walls, all of it exploratory, all of it alive.

And sometimes, someone else’s bravery lights a spark in you. When a school band visited and filled the hallways with music, students were reminded that courage can be contagious. This week, our schools were full of students doing hard things, some for the first time, some for the hundredth. Every single one of them was brave. 🏈☕🌿🎶✨
