
Your child can learn a new language this summer and have fun doing it! The Summer International & Indigenous Languages Program at the Ottawa Catholic School Board is a fun and social program that encourages learning a new language. Students practice speaking, listening, reading and writing skills while they enjoy games, music and art activities.
Who is this program for?
Summer language classes are available to all students from JK to Grade 8, regardless of the school board they attend. This program is great for children who want to maintain and develop the language of their home, or for those who want to learn a new language.
Languages Offered
We are offering Amharic, Blin, Cantonese, Dutch, Farsi, Igbo, Italian, Korean, Mandarin (Simplified), Mandarin (Traditional), Portuguese, Punjabi, Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Tigrinya, Turkish and Yoruba.
Virtual or In-Person
In-Person Classes
In-Person classes are offered in our Morning Program at various school locations around Ottawa. Afternoon Camps are available at some locations.
Virtual Classes
Virtual Program classes are offered in the morning and afternoon. They will be delivered online using Google Meet for synchronous learning. Students are required to have access to a device (Chromebook, laptop) and access to the internet.
Dates & Times
The program runs July 4 – August 4, 2023, Monday to Friday. The deadline to register is June 17, 2023.
- In-Person Morning Program: 9:00 am – 11:30 am (Early drop-off option: 8:00 am – 9:00 am)
- Afternoon Camps: 11:30 am – 5:30 pm
- Virtual Morning Program: 9:00 am – 11:30 am
- Virtual Afternoon Program: 12:30 pm – 3:00 pm
Pricing
The Summer International & Indigenous Languages Program is offered free of charge to Ontario residents. Afternoon In-Person Camps and Early Drop-Off options are available at additional cost.
There is a tuition fee for out-of-province students, international students, and visitors to Canada.
