Our Lady of Wisdom educator, Tracey Schreiber, is one of this year’s Prime Minister’s Award of Excellence Early Childhood Education winners. Tracey is recognized for her unique student-led learning style, which focuses on student interests. In her twenty-plus-year career, Tracey has witnessed students thrive when provided the opportunity to lead their learning. Once shy, students become engaged, creative, innovative learners who collaborate with their peers.
Tracey believes engagement is the path to individual and collective class learning. She takes the time to get to know her students as individuals. She encourages conversations regarding their interests, hobbies, likes and dislikes and incorporates those interests to stimulate motivation in classroom activities. The end result is happy, confident learners.
Tracey brings joy to the classroom every day. She can uniquely balance her students’ academic and emotional well-being. Her calm attitude creates an encouraging and respectful environment where students, educators and families feel supported. Tracey provides a wonderful start to a child’s learning journey and encourages parents to participate actively in their child’s education.
