The Ottawa Catholic School Board is privileged to have Student Voice represented at the Board table via Student Trustees Sia Srivastava from Holy Trinity High School and Sharaphaajan Sivapalan from St. Josephine Virtual High School. These two accomplished students were elected by their peers to represent students board-wide for the school year 2022-2023.
Student Trustees offer a student-focused and innovative perspective to all Ontario Catholic School Board tables as they live firsthand the effects of policy decisions. Locally, OCSB Trustees value their student peers and encourage them to ask questions, collaborate and seek advice to maximize their role. Students’ voices are critical to informing policy decisions that best serve student well-being and academic success.
While no two Student Trustees are alike, and each Student Trustee approaches their role differently, one thing remains the same: Student Trustees are essential in ensuring that Student Voice is at the forefront of all policy decisions.
Please listen to Sia and Sharaphaajan as they explain how they see their role as Ottawa Catholic School Board Student Trustees and welcome students to the 2022-2023 school year.
