Celebrating our Early Childhood Educators!

Today is Child Care Worker & Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Appreciation Day. We’re inviting the entire Ottawa Catholic School Board community to join us in giving our ECEs a shout-out online! Make some noise on social media by recognizing Early Learning & Child Care Heroes!

Essential and valued members of our Kindergarten teams

Early Childhood Educators are trained classroom educators who specialize in early childhood development. In a Kindergarten classroom, you would see an ECE observing, documenting and analyzing student thinking and learning. They also plan and implement developmentally appropriate programming that will inspire and challenge our littlest learners. They bring expertise that complements the Ontario Certified Teacher by focusing on each child’s cognitive, physical, social, emotional and creative development.

Meet our Lead Early Childhood Educator!

Stephanie McIntyre holds the honour of being the Ottawa Catholic School Board’s first Lead Early Childhood Educator. It’s a brand new position created to ensure the valuable perspective of the ECE is included at the board level. Stephanie collaborates with a team of educators at the board office to support kindergarten teams throughout the OCSB, offering her unique ECE lens. “I love how dynamic this position is. Every day is different, and I am learning so much. It’s an amazing opportunity for professional growth,” said Stephanie. “I also love that I have the opportunity to advocate for Early Childhood Educators and bring their perspective to the board.”

Thank an #ocsbECE
