The rapid development of new homes in Barrhaven South is shaping up to increase future enrolment at St. Joseph High School to numbers we can not accommodate. On April 11, 2023, the OCSB approved the commencement of a public consultation process to discuss proposed attendance boundary revisions to St. Joseph High School and St. Mother Teresa High School.
New Boundary Proposal for St. Joseph and St. Mother Theresa High School
We propose redirecting a portion of the current St. Joseph High School attendance area located west of Greenbank Road and north of the Jock River and McKenna Casey Drive to St. Mother Teresa High School. These revisions are meant to open up space for more students at St. Joseph High School, balance enrolment between the two schools in the long term, and make the best use of available classroom space. This boundary revision is proposed to be effective for the 2024-25 school year.
Current St. Joseph high school students enrolled for the 2023-24 school year would be given a one-time option to remain at that school if they live within the boundary area that will be redirected in the proposal.
Proposed Changes to Elementary School Boundaries
Under the proposal, St. Patrick, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Luke (Nepean), St. Andrew, and Monsignor Paul Baxter Elementary Schools would attend St. Mother Teresa High School for grades 7 to 12.
St. Emily, St. Benedict, St. Cecilia, and St. Juan Diego (to open for September 2023) Elementary Schools would attend St. Joseph High School.
