Friday Feeling | Trick or Treat, What a Week!

There’s a little extra magic in the air when October draws to a close. Pumpkins get their moment in the spotlight, costumes come out of hiding and school spirit takes on a wonderfully spooky twist. This week’s #ocsbFridayFeeling brings together imagination, determination and the kind of community spirit that makes every student feel part of the fun.

Creativity was bubbling over as students explored makerspaces and libraries, admired decorated jack-o-lanterns and enjoyed a glow-in-the-dark dance party. Halloween costumes brought another opportunity to let imaginations loose, turning familiar school spaces into a colourful celebration of characters and creative ideas. With so many ways to join in, the treats went well beyond the candy bowl!

That same spirit showed up on the football field, where students played hard, tried their best and had fun together. Academic awards also gave students a well-deserved moment to shine, celebrating the hard work and perseverance behind their accomplishments. No magic spells here, just effort, encouragement and plenty of reasons to cheer.

Beyond the Halloween excitement, curiosity was working its own magic. Students explored local candidates and cast ballots through a student vote, discovering how their voices can help shape a community. Media Literacy Week invited a closer look at the messages around us, because appearances don’t always tell the whole story. Educators also teamed up to support French oral language learning, helping students grow more comfortable finding their words and joining the conversation.

As we Nourish New Beginnings, we’re reminded that a little courage and a welcoming community can make trying something new feel less scary. Whether students are stepping onto the field, speaking up or sharing their Halloween creativity, there’s joy in knowing they have people cheering them on. Here’s to a weekend with more treats than tricks and plenty of OCSB spirit! 💚🎃
