A New Chapter for Secondary Education in Stittsville

A new Catholic high school is coming to Stittsville, and that’s something worth celebrating!

The Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) recently broke ground on Fernbank Catholic High School, bringing us one step closer to opening our first new Catholic high school since 2009. For families in this growing community, it means more students will have the opportunity to attend a Catholic high school closer to home.

Making Room for a Growing Community

Located on an 18-acre site at the corner of Cope Drive and Atlas Terrace, the new school is expected to open in September 2028, welcoming students in Grades 7 to 12.

With space for 1,439 students, the school represents a $66.6 million provincial investment in Catholic education.

Stittsville has welcomed many new families over the years, and with that growth comes the need for more schools. This new high school will help meet that need, giving students a place to learn, develop their interests and become part of a school community of their own.

More Than a New School

For the students who will one day walk through its doors, this school will be much more than a new building.

It will be where friendships begin, talents are discovered and memories are made. From the excitement of starting Grade 7 to the pride of walking across the graduation stage, students will have a place to grow academically, socially and spiritually.

And while construction is just beginning, it’s fun to imagine what those first days will look like. New classrooms, new friendships, new traditions and a whole school community getting to know one another.

A New Beginning for Stittsville

As we Nourish New Beginnings, there’s something special about watching a new Catholic school take shape.

There’s still plenty to do before the doors open, including choosing a name for the school. But for the families who will one day call this school their own, the excitement is already beginning.

We look forward to welcoming the first students in September 2028 and seeing the school community they will build together.
