This spring, the stage is set—and it’s alive with music, movement, and magic! St. Benedict Elementary School is proud to present The Lion King Jr., a spectacular student production that’s bringing the heartbeat of the African savannah to Ottawa.
With over 70 passionate performers from Grades 4 to 6, this high-energy show is more than just a play—it’s a celebration. Taking place at St. Paul High School’s auditorium on May 23 and 24, 2025, The Lion King Jr. promises three unforgettable performances filled with powerful choreography, live vocals, stunning costumes, and heartfelt storytelling.
What makes this production truly special is the way it weaves together culture and creativity. Many of St. Benedict’s students proudly share their African heritage, and through this show, they’re bringing those roots to life—celebrating identity, tradition, and community in every scene and song. It’s a moving tribute to diversity, and a reminder of the stories that connect us all.
More Than a Performance: Learning Through the Arts
Since November, students have poured their hearts into weekly rehearsals—learning lines, mastering choreography, and building a show from the ground up. Along the way, they’ve also been developing real-world skills that go far beyond the stage: teamwork, perseverance, confidence, and communication.
And yes—there’s been plenty of laughter, friendship, and fun, too! From backstage bloopers to standing ovations in practice, the journey to showtime has been one of growth, discovery, and pure joy.
