OCSB Remembers: Honouring Those Who Serve

Remembrance Day invites us to pause, reflect and remember the people whose courage and sacrifice have helped shape our country. Across the Ottawa Catholic School Board, we come together to honour those who have served, and continue to serve, and to express our gratitude for their contributions to our communities and our country.

Every name tells a story, and every act of service deserves to be remembered. Each November, our Ottawa Catholic School Board community comes together for our annual OCSB Remembers tribute, honouring Veterans, active service members and their loved ones whose service and sacrifice have made a lasting difference. Their names will be featured on the large digital sign in front of the Catholic Education Centre from November 6 to 13, 2026, offering our community a meaningful opportunity to pause, reflect and express gratitude. Together, we remember those who have served and reflect on the importance of peace, compassion and caring for one another.

Honour Someone Who Has Served

Is there someone you would like to honour this Remembrance Day? We invite you to share their name as part of this special tribute. By recognizing their service and sacrifice, we express our gratitude, acknowledge their contributions and ensure their stories continue to be remembered.

To take part in this special tribute, kindly fill out the form with the name of the person you wish to commemorate by Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 9:00 am.

From November 6 to 13, we welcome our community to visit the large digital sign in front of the Catholic Education Centre and take photos of their loved ones’ names as a meaningful way to remember and reflect.

Remembering Together Across Our Schools

Throughout our schools, students and staff mark Remembrance Day through liturgies, classroom learning, letters of gratitude, art, music, displays and moments of quiet reflection. These experiences help students connect with the stories of those who served, recognize the importance of remembrance, and reflect on how each of us can contribute to a more peaceful and caring world.

We encourage our school communities to share their Remembrance Day reflections and tributes using #ocsbRemembers.

As we remember together, may we carry forward the values of kindness, compassion and service that help strengthen our communities. We honour those who gave, and continue to give, in service to our country, and remain grateful for the peace and freedom their sacrifices have helped protect.

Looking back on last year’s Remembrance Day gatherings across our school communities, students and staff came together through reflection, music, displays, prayer, art and assemblies to honour those who served and reflect on the importance of peace and remembrance.
