Building Bridges Through Music at the NAC: A Night Our Students Will Never Forget

There is something special about seeing young performers step into the spotlight, and this winter, 31 experienced members of the OCSB Children’s Choir did precisely that. With bright smiles and even brighter voices, our students joined The Tenors onstage at the National Arts Centre for their Christmas show. It was the kind of moment that makes you pause, cheer a little louder, and feel proud to be part of a community that celebrates student talent so wholeheartedly.

A Collaboration Filled with Kindness

When Choir Director Carla MacGregor reached out to The Tenors this fall, their answer could not have been more enthusiastic. They were thrilled to welcome the choir and made our students feel at home from the moment they walked into the NAC. There was excitement in the air, the good kind that happens when people genuinely enjoy working together.

Practice, Laughter, and A Lot of Heart

In the weeks leading up to the show, the choir worked diligently to prepare. They gathered at St. Basil’s Church for extra practices, learned their parts at home, and encouraged one another along the way. Whether they were seasoned choir members or joining for the first time, each student grew in confidence and skill. They showed up, put in the work, and supported one another like a true team.

Showtime at the NAC

On performance night, the energy backstage was contagious. The students took the stage with confidence, performing three beautiful pieces alongside The Tenors. The audience loved every moment. The applause was warm, genuine, and well-earned.

Backstage, The Tenors were just as generous. They chatted with the students, posed for photos, and praised their strong preparation. Their kindness made an already exciting night even more memorable.

Why It Matters

Opportunities like this do more than build musical skills. They help students discover their strengths, collaborate with others, and take on new experiences with confidence and courage. Watching these performers grow was a reminder of why we open doors and create space for students to shine.
