Friday Feeling | Learning in the Season of Light

This week’s #ocsbFridayFeeling honoured the spirit of curiosity and celebrated how learning takes many forms. With Computer Science Education Week underway, students embraced opportunities to wonder, tinker, and explore coding from Kindergarten through to High School. It’s not just a standalone skill, but also a way to strengthen problem-solving, perseverance, and attention to detail.

This week’s coding activities went far beyond typing on a computer. Students created simple programs, participated in hands-on challenges, and explored digital animation, art, and music. Through these activities, they discovered that computer science is about thinking creatively, solving problems, and bringing ideas to life together.

In other classrooms, students dove into math puzzles that sharpened thinking, engaged in cultural and Indigenous-inspired learning that nurtured respect, and found joy in outdoor play. Across all these activities, a common thread emerged: learning is richest when it’s rooted in sharing with our peers.

It’s been a week of wonder and growth. Each time students try something new, learn from a setback, or encourage a friend, they show us how confidence and community are built.
