The latest EQAO results are in, and there is a lot to celebrate across the Ottawa Catholic School Board. Our students performed above the provincial average in every category, and we improved across the board compared to last year. These results reflect what we see every day in our classrooms. Strong teaching. Strong relationships. Strong learning.
At the OCSB, our focus is always on the whole child. When students feel seen, supported, and confident, they are more likely to learn and grow. This year’s EQAO results reinforce that momentum.
What Is Driving This Growth
Our educators work with intention every single day. They utilize classroom assessments, data, and daily observations to inform their instruction. They adapt to diverse learners. They create routines that help students build foundational skills in literacy and numeracy. They do all of this while nurturing student well-being, because learning and belonging go hand in hand.
Families also play a key role. Learning is at its best when home and school work together. These results reflect that partnership.
A Snapshot, Not the Whole Story
EQAO is one snapshot in time. It provides us with helpful information about how students are performing, and we combine that with the rich assessment data that teachers gather daily. That combination helps us plan supports, strengthen instruction, and continue to meet learners where they are.
Moving Forward With Confidence
We are proud of this year’s progress, and we are already looking ahead. We will continue to strengthen early literacy, build confidence in math, and provide targeted support to students who require additional time and practice. We will also continue to invest in student well-being and engagement, as students learn best when they feel safe, connected, and valued.
The consistency we are seeing in classrooms, including routines that reduce distractions, is helping create the conditions for learning to flourish. It is encouraging to see students deeply engaged in their learning again.
