Building Bridges of Action – November Reflection

At the OCSB, compassion is more than a feeling – it’s something we live through our actions. Inspired by our faith and grounded in care for one another, we continue to learn that compassion means noticing when someone is struggling and choosing to do something to help.

This month, our school communities are focusing on what it means to put compassion into action. We know change doesn’t happen all at once. It begins with one step, one act of attention or kindness. Each gesture, no matter how small, helps someone feel seen, valued, and supported. That’s how we build bridges of connection and hope.

As we move through November, we invite our families and communities to reflect with us:

  • Where in my life is compassion needed most right now, and how can I respond?
  • Are there places in the world or in my community where people are hurting and need support?

Together, one small step at a time, we are building bridges of action by bringing compassion to life in our schools, homes, and neighbourhoods.

Prayer Intention for November

We pray for hearts that are gentle and brave, ready to act with compassion when others are in need. May we follow the example of Jesus, who teaches us how to love through kindness, mercy, and care.

Living the Theme Together

Last month, we reflected on Understanding, the second step in bridge-building. This month, we focus on Action by turning compassion into something others can feel, see, and trust.

In the months ahead, we’ll continue to explore Faith, Solidarity, and Kinship, finding new ways to live out our call to build bridges.

We invite everyone in the OCSB community to bring November’s theme to life at school and home. Share your bridge-building moments with us on social media using #ocsbBuildsBridges, and revisit last month’s reflection on Understanding.
