Lent at the Ottawa Catholic School Board

Lent is a sacred season of reflection, renewal, and growth. As we journey through these 40 days leading up to Easter, we take time to consider how we can improve ourselves and make a difference in the lives of others. At the Ottawa Catholic School Board, this season inspires us to pause, reflect, and take meaningful steps toward creating a more compassionate world.

Lent is rooted in Jesus’ 40 days of prayer and fasting in the desert. During this time, we focus on three key pillars: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. These practices help us strengthen our faith, nurture our relationships, and prepare our hearts for Easter with a renewed sense of purpose.

Throughout our schools, students of all ages will engage with Lenten themes in ways that are meaningful to them. We will come together in prayer, participate in liturgies, and take part in activities that deepen our understanding of this important season.

We encourage students, staff, and our wider OCSB community to share their Lenten experiences on social media using #ocsbLent. This season reminds us to be kind, generous, and thoughtful in our actions. Let’s use Lent as an opportunity to grow in faith and inspire positive change in our hearts, schools, and beyond.
