Building Brighter Futures: St. Brigid’s Camp Donates $500,000 to CEFO

In a powerful act of generosity and community spirit, St. Brigid’s Camp has donated $500,000 to the Catholic Education Foundation of Ottawa (CEFO) to support the health and well-being of students and families. Presented at our recent School Board meeting, this donation underscores our shared commitment to helping families overcome the challenges of poverty.

Though St. Brigid’s Camp, a cherished part of our community for over 50 years, closed last year, its legacy lives on through this impactful gift. The funds will strengthen CEFO’s ongoing mission to support families within the Ottawa Catholic School Board.
With one in five children in Ottawa facing poverty, this support is more critical than ever. Donations like this one from St. Brigid’s enable CEFO to reduce the effects of poverty, providing essentials such as nutritious food, eyeglasses, and other necessities for students and their families.

The CEFO campaign, running from November 8 to 22, 2024, reminds us of the strength of community and the difference we can make together. We extend our heartfelt thanks to St. Brigid’s Camp’s former Board Members and leaders—Joanne Cooke, Michael E. Keeler, Sean Crookshank, Cheryl McCleary, Karen Turkowsky, and JoAnne Monty—for their visionary support.

Together, we light the way for students, helping to ease the burden of poverty and open doors to nourish new educational and personal growth opportunities.
