Lent at the Ottawa Catholic School Board

Lent is the 40 days preceding Easter that encourages us to reflect on our lives and how to improve ourselves and help others. It is a time of inspiration for the OCSB community to review our actions and how we can positively impact the world.

Lent is based on Jesus’ example of spending 40 days in prayer and fasting. We concentrate on three main activities during this time: fasting, praying, and almsgiving. These three Lenten pillars help us repair and strengthen our relationships, deepen our faith, and prepare ourselves for Easter with a renewed spirit.

In our schools, students of all grades will explore Lenten themes in ways that suit their level of understanding. We’ll also participate in liturgies and activities to deepen our understanding of the season.

Share with us through #ocsbLent

We invite all our students, staff, and community to share their Lenten activities with us using #ocsbLent on social media. Lent is an excellent reminder for all OCSB members to reflect on how we can become kinder and more generous. Let’s use this Lent to bring about positive change in ourselves and our community.
