St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School (St. FX) is organizing a pancake breakfast event on February 13, 2024, to celebrate Shrove Tuesday. This day marks the day before Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten season.
The purpose of the breakfast is to share the day’s religious significance while raising funds for a local charity. Catholics are encouraged to concentrate on “almsgiving” during Lent, which involves donating money or goods to those in need and performing other charitable acts.
Partnering With Local Business To Ensure Success
St. FX is partnering with several local businesses to ensure the success of their upcoming breakfast event. These community-focused businesses, which include Loblaws South Keys #1188, Shoppers Drug Mart Findlay Creek, and Costco Gloucester Business Centre #802, have generously donated all the required ingredients to prepare the pancakes, including pancake batter, maple syrup, paper plates, napkins, utensils, and cash.
Three-Thousand-One Hundred Pancakes and Counting
The school recruited many dedicated volunteers to prepare and serve 3,100 pancakes. That is enough to feed the whole student body. The volunteers will prepare, flip and deliver the food directly to the students in their classrooms.
Who Knew Principal Powers Was a Pancake Aficionado?
Special guest pancake flippers, including St. FX Principal Sean Power and Superintendent Debbie Kealey, will be the star flippers in the school’s main foyer from 7 am to 8 am. Other potential guests may make appearances as well.
The media are welcome to attend. Please contact Principal Power if you plan on attending.
