You registered your child for Kindergarten at your local OCSB school, but the school doesn’t start until September. So what do you do? Here are some tips to help get your child ready for Kindergarten!
Visit Your School’s Kindergarten Information Night
Mark your calendar, the Ottawa Catholic School Board’s Elementary Schools will hold Kindergarten Information Nights all through May. You and your child will get the chance to visit their school, check out the playground, meet the Kindergarten Team, and try out classroom activities. Watch for an email from your child’s school with more details closer to the event. Meanwhile, mark the date in your calendar and begin counting the days with your little one.
Take a 3D Tour!
You can also explore an OCSB Kindergarten classroom from the comfort of your home. We offer virtual visits that you and your child can view over and over again.
Give Your Child the Support They Need
Our Supported School Readiness Program is for children entering Kindergarten for the first time. One of our Child Development Advisors will visit your home before the start of school or during the first weeks of school to help your child feel more comfortable as they enter the exciting world of Kindergarten. The program is available at 13 OCSB schools in partnership with the Licensed Home Child Care Network of Ottawa. Register now to take full advantage of the program.
Spread the News!
All children are welcome to attend OCSB elementary schools. Registering now helps our schools prepare for your child’s arrival. Early registrations help us plan, allowing us to hire educators and administrative staff, allocate classroom space, and update OSTA so that they can plan their bus routes. Anyone registering for an Extended Day Program (EDP) for before-and-after-school care must be registered for school first. We look forward to welcoming future difference-makers to your neighbourhood Catholic school.
