“Good things take time – Great things take a little longer” is a mantra that St. FX students learned one blueprint, one shovel, and one paint stroke at a time.
In 2018/19, St. FX students participated in the Ottawa Landscape Design Build Challenge. This competition sees college and high school students working with landscape professionals to design and build an engaging outdoor learning environment on school grounds.
During the 2021/22 school year, St. FX successfully bid for funding for an OYAP construction project. With this funding and the help of Algonquin College students, they completed the outdoor space for students that supports faith and encourages healthy outdoor activity.
This project took four years to complete, yet it will never be fully completed. One of its key goals is to ensure future students will contribute to the care of the outdoor space and encourage students to embrace it as a safe space for spiritual growth and community building.
A member of the Indigenous Student Association created a video to showcase how a community can foster connections today and in the future.
