OCSB’s Steve McCabe to receive Eleanor Newman Award for Outstanding Service

Ottawa Catholic School Board, Superintendent of Human Resources Steve McCabe, is one of only two people to receive the Eastern Ontario Staff Development Network (EOSDN) Eleanor Newman Award for Outstanding Service.

EOSDN created this prestigious award to honour a Network member who contributed significantly to fostering collaborative discourse, peer support and connecting educators to current research and policy.

OCSB Superintendent McCabe is being honoured for his significant commitment to dedicating time and effort to advancing student achievement and advocating for staff development.

Mary Donaghy, Associate Director of Education, OCSB, and nominator for Steve McCabe, said, “Steve’s support of the EOSDN Leadership Academy encouraged others to develop their individual leadership style.” She added Steve modelled exceptional interpersonal skills and was a mentor to many educators who hoped to become Catholic leaders in their schools.”

In support of Steve’s nomination, Thomas D’Amico, Director of Education, OCSB, said, “Steve contributed to EOSDN’s vision and strategic direction by promoting wellbeing, innovative thinking and building a sense of community among the Network.” He also ensured members had an opportunity to participate in EOSDN events, including MISA, Mathematics projects, Thinking Symposia, French Networks, and the Adult Education Strategy so that they could  progress on their leadership journey.”

The Board of directors will present Steve McCabe with The Eleanor Newman Award for Outstanding Service at the annual Award dinner in May 2022.
