The Student Trustee Elections are on February 24, 2022, and we’re looking for compassionate student candidates who have a strong sense of leadership and are eager to learn.
Student Trustees represent the voice of the students at the Ottawa Catholic School Board, and they are responsible for bringing forward student questions, perspectives and concerns to the Director of Education and Superintendents.
Responsibilities of a Student Trustee
As a Student Trustee, you will work closely with the Student Council co-presidents at the Ottawa Catholic School Board’s high schools. You will have lots of fun connecting with these like-minded leaders within the OCSB community, and together you will support your fellow peers by working as student advocates.
You will also get some social media management experience under your belt when you help run the OCSB Student social media accounts. It’s an excellent opportunity to connect with your community digitally and help spread important information to the student body.
Student Trustees hold a very influential seat at the OCSB’s regular public Board Meetings, where you will have the opportunity to hear from our school’s decision-makers and bring forward the student perspective.
How to run for a Student Trustee position
If you’re interested in running for a Student Trustee position or would like to become a student advocate, speak with your Student Council co-presidents to learn how to apply. You can also connect with the current Student Trustees to learn more about what the position entails.
Don’t forget to take a moment to hear from this year’s Student Trustees as they share their experiences from the 2021 – 2022 school year.
Stay connected with your student advocates
We encourage you to stay connected with your student advocates through the OCSB Student social media accounts. You can hit the follow button of your social media platform of choice at the links below.
