It gives me great pleasure to announce that this year’s recipient of the Distinguished Catholic Alumni Award is Dr. Kim Corace, Vice President of Innovation and Transformation at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre and a proud graduate of St. Mark High School. The Distinguished Catholic Alumni Award is presented to an alumni who has achieved a high level of distinction and recognition in their chosen field while exhibiting positive Catholic values as noted in the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations. The nomination was made by Principal Tracy Mertz.
Normally, this award would have been presented at Christian Community Day, which did not take place this year, due to the ban on gathering in large groups during the pandemic. This award was presented virtually to Dr. Corace at the Board meeting on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.
Along with the award comes a $5,000 donation made in the name of our winner. Dr. Corace has asked that the donation be awarded to her alma mater, St. Mark High School.
Please enjoy the video that illustrates Dr. Corace’s innovative work in the field of mental health and substance abuse research and her passion for reducing the stigma around mental health and addiction issues.
