High School Honours 4 – Additional Graduate Awards & Scholarships

The Ottawa Catholic School Board is known for its inspiring students who persevere through challenges, go above and beyond in academics, community and parish involvement and impact the world around them through kindness and generosity.  In this series, we honour the difference-makers who are graduating from Ottawa Catholic high schools this year. We wish all of our graduates the best in their next chapter and celebrate the many personal achievements and proverbial mountains each student conquered on their way to earning their Ontario Secondary School diploma.

Congratulations to the following students who were awarded various awards and scholarships from community partners.

Edward J. Cuhaci Architects Award

Recipients of this award will receive a certificate and a $1,000 bursary. It is awarded to a graduating student from the Ottawa Catholic School Board who plans to take a post-secondary program in the design/architectural studies field in college or university. The winners of this award have demonstrated achievement in design/architectural-related courses in high school while also completing all of the requirements for obtaining an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

  • Willem Girard (Sacred Hearts High School)

Ashfield Community Involvement Award

The award winner receives a one-time $3,000 bursary towards the cost of fees to attend college, university or an approved apprenticeship program. The recipient demonstrates school or community involvement, attained a minimum 70% average, met all of the requirements for an Ontario Secondary School diploma and has been accepted for studies at a college or university.

  • Casper Waterman (St. Mother Theresa High School)

National Bank of Canada Award

This award was given to a student for writing a short essay on managing debt related to post-secondary expenses. They have also completed the Ontario Secondary School diploma requirements, and plan to take a post-secondary program in college or university.

  • Daniel Langlois (Notre Dame High School)
  • Ali Al-Faesly (St. Francis Xavier High School)

Your Credit Union for Overall Achievement Award

This award is given to graduating students who have demonstrated strong work ethic, community or school involvement and require financial assistance to pursue their post-secondary education goals.

Winners:

  • Galeno Sousa (Notre Dame High School)
  • Elena Wilson (St. Mark High School)

Shepherds of Good Hope Graduate Student Volunteer Award

This award is given to a graduating student who has demonstrated dedication in volunteering at school, church, or in the community. They have positively impacted the community by volunteering their time to directly benefit community members who access the Shepherds of Good Hope services.

Winner:

  • Joshua Salvador (All Saints High School)

Friends of the Mer Bleue Scholarship

The recipient of this award will receive a $2,000 scholarship to pursue post-secondary education at a Canadian university or college where at least one environmental related course will be completed.

Winner:

  • Chloe Bolt (Lester B. Pearson High School)
  • Robyn Edwards (St. Matthew High School)
  • Abby Eaton (St. Peter High School)

Sweetnam Graduation Award

This award provided by Mr. Phil Sweetnam is given to a diligent, hard working student who is graduating from one of All Saints, Holy Trinity, and Sacred Heart High School. They have demonstrated a well-rounded involvement in their school and community and outlined in a one page essay how they meet the criteria of the award.

Winner:

  • Mary-Jane Shackleton (Sacred Hearts High School)

Sweetnam Engineering Award

This award provided by Mr. Phil Sweetnam is given to a diligent, hard working student who is graduating from one of All Saints, Holy Trinity, and Sacred Heart High School. They have demonstrated a well-rounded involvement in their school and community and outlined in a one page essay how they meet the criteria of the award.

Winner:

  • Natalie Marson (Holy Trinity High School)

Sweetnam College/Trade Award

This award provided by Mr. Phil Sweetnam is given to a diligent, hard working student who is graduating from one of All Saints, Holy Trinity, and Sacred Heart High School. They have demonstrated a well-rounded involvement in their school and community and outlined in a one page essay how they meet the criteria of the award.
