Honouring Black History Month at the OCSB

The heart of Catholic education is centred around the foundational belief that we are all created in God’s image. There is beauty in diversity. Throughout February, we acknowledge and celebrate Black Canadians’ contributions through Black History month activities and virtual celebrations at the Ottawa Catholic School Board.

Equipping schools and educators with resources

We are committed to providing every student at the Ottawa Catholic School Board with a safe and inclusive learning environment where they are free to thrive and discover their God-given potential. Our Leading & Learning department has been hard at work developing resources to support your child’s learning and exploration of Black History Month. From prayers and liturgies to anti-racism resources, our staff and schools are equipped with many resources to offer creative and meaningful learning opportunities throughout this month.

See our Black History Month Google Slideshow of influential and accomplished people of African descent.

Celebrating stories of Black Canadians on social media

Follow our Continuing & Community Education department on Facebook and Twitter as we showcase and acknowledge the contributions remarkable Black Canadians have made to society.

Whether your child learns in-person or through virtual school, we invite you to join the conversation and celebration of Black History Month on social media using our hashtag #BlackHistoryOCSB.
