World Teachers’ Day

Today October 5, is World Teachers’ Day. This year’s theme is “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future.” Thankfully for OCSB students, you continue to lead and teach with each of your students’ wellbeing as the focus.

A Joint Statement from UNESCO, ILO, UNICEF and Education International included the following passage, “In this crisis, teachers have shown, as they have done so often, great leadership and innovation in ensuring that #LearningNeverStops, that no learner is left behind. Around the world, they have worked individually and collectively to find solutions and create new learning environments for their students to allow education to continue.”

Thanks to your leadership and innovation, you have ensured that #CatholicLearningContinues. Today and every day, I thank you for honouring the diversity of every person we care for and supporting the well-being of all.

On this World Teachers’ Day, I leave you with a prayer of gratitude:

Dear God,

I thank you for the many talented OCSB educators throughout our system. During difficult times, help our staff to know that no moment of Grace goes unnoticed. We thank you, God, for the privilege of a vocation working in Catholic education. Throughout this pandemic, we all walk humbly with God, and we continue to be thankful for the gifts and talents of all teachers and educators on World Teachers’ Day.

Amen
