April showers bring May flowers, and this week’s #ocsbFridayFeeling is a reminder that something beautiful is already growing in our schools.
In one classroom, Kindergarten students transformed their space into a flower shop, filling art tables with colour, creativity, and character. This season has a way of opening the door to imagination, and our youngest learners stepped right through it.
Across our schools, curiosity was in motion. Students measured and compared using balance tools, built and tested pulleys, and explored simple machines at the Science and Technology Museum. Hands-on learning invites questions, sparks discovery, and stays with students long after the lesson ends.
Stories and shared experiences brought learning to life in new ways. An Anishinabe children’s show introduced students to new voices and perspectives. Books about our planet encouraged reflection on what it means to be its caretakers. In music, students moved together, finding rhythm, connection, and joy.
Character was on display, too. Students were recognized for faithfulness and honesty, qualities that extend far beyond the classroom. These moments speak not only to what students have done, but to who they are becoming.
Spring reminds us that growth is always happening, quietly and steadily, often in more places than we notice. This week, our schools were in full bloom. 🌸🌱✨
