At the Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB), our three-year Spiritual Theme invites us to live out our faith in practical and inspiring ways. Last year, we focused on Opening Doors – welcoming others, removing barriers, and creating spaces for new beginnings. This year, we take the next step: We Are Called to Build Bridges.
What Does It Mean to “Build Bridges”?
When we talk about building bridges, we might think of reaching out to someone far away. But sometimes, the most important bridges are to those right next to us. Distance isn’t always about how far apart we are but about how we feel or understand each other. Building bridges starts right where we are, with the people around us.
In our daily lives, this can mean:
- Smile and say hello
- Listen with an open heart
- Pray for one another
Living The Theme In Our Schools
Each month, we will focus on a different sub-theme to help our schools and OCSB community live out this theme. These monthly reflections encourage intentional choices that reflect the unique and vibrant spirit of each school:
- September: Belonging
- October: Understanding
- November: Action
- December: Faith (Advent/Christmas)
- January: Solidarity & Kinship
- February: Across Generations
- March: Mercy & Reconciliation (Lent)
- April: Cultures, Communities & Creation (Easter/Pentecost)
- May: Joyful Collaboration (Catholic Education Week)
- June: Called to be Living Bridges
Follow Along And Share With Us
As we journey through Year Two of our Spiritual Theme, we are reminded that bridges don’t just connect places – they connect people. We invite our community to follow along and share their own bridge-building moments by tagging us on social media and using #ocsbBuildsBridges.
