Meet the Future Leaders of Skilled Trades: Ottawa Catholic School Board’s 16 Bursary Recipients!

Are you ready to be inspired by the next generation of skilled trades professionals? This year, 16 remarkable Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) students have earned the Skilled Trades Bursary. Each student will receive $1,000 to help them overcome barriers to completing their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and pursuing promising careers. These young trailblazers are enrolled in the OCSB Cooperative Education program and are on a path to transform industries and communities with their talents and dedication. The Skilled Trades Bursary Program supports Grade 11 and 12 students demonstrating leadership and commitment in their chosen trades. To qualify, these students must earn credits in a cooperative education program and actively promote the trades through mentorship, conferences, and peer engagement.

One recipient shared how this bursary changed their outlook.

“This bursary has helped me to realize that there are numerous opportunities in skilled trades pathways and several career options connected to working in the trades. As an OYAP student, I have remained engaged in school, which has helped me solidify a career pathway for myself after high school.”

Tomorrow’s Leaders!

These students are not just recipients but future leaders, innovators, and role models in the skilled trades industry. Their hard work and passion drive them to break new ground and inspire others to follow in their footsteps.
