This week’s #ocsbFridayFeeling celebrates the many ways students learn, and the educators who create space for all of them.
Some students thrive with a pencil and a problem to solve. Others come alive the moment they step outside. Our educators make room for all of it, and this week, our schools were full of exactly that.
Some of the most memorable moments happened in unexpected places. Students built alphabet instruments from pipes and elastics, then performed for their friends outdoors. A gym class became a first encounter with a tennis racquet, and in that moment, a student quietly told himself, “I can do hard things.” That is character building in real time.
The outdoors had a lot to teach this week. Students searched their schoolyard for living things, curiosity leading the way. A rainy day farm visit brought students face to face with baby sheep and goats, the kind of experience that stays with you. In the forest and the schoolyard, learning was alive and moving.
Back inside, the energy did not slow down. Kindergarteners brainstormed, planned, and built a collaborative community map. Students navigated coding challenges with Ozobots. A rainy day became an opportunity for teamwork and problem-solving, proof that the right mindset turns any moment into learning. And sometimes, learning means hitting the road! Senior students took to Montreal for a day of adventure, while others cheered on classmates at intramural soccer finals.
Learning can show up in a barn, on a tennis court, in a band performance, and in the quiet moment when a student discovers they are more capable than they knew. This week, our schools embraced every shape and style of learning, meeting students where they are. 🎶⚽🌿✨
