It started with stickers.
Bright, fun, and impossible to resist.
At St. Gabriel School, this small idea turned into something much bigger.
The school hosted a Sticker Store fundraiser that brought the whole community together in a simple but meaningful way.
Learning Through Giving
The Sticker Store gave students the chance to live out almsgiving during Lent in a way that made sense to them. They were not just picking out stickers. They were learning what it means to give, to care, and to think beyond themselves.
By the end of the day, the school had raised nearly $500 to support SchoolBOX, helping provide books and build libraries for Indigenous communities in Northern Ontario.
One student shared,
“It was fun to pick a sticker, but the best part was knowing we were helping other kids get books.”
A Whole Community Effort
What made this event special was how many people came together to make it happen.
Mrs. Maidment’s Grade 3 class helped advertise the event and build excitement across the school. Co-op students from All Saints Catholic High School worked alongside staff to organize the sale and support younger students. The resource team, including Mrs. Salinas and Ms. Hart, helped coordinate the day, and St. Gabriel Parent Council volunteers were there every step of the way.
It was a joyful, community effort. Students supporting students, older students leading by example, and families and staff working together for a cause that mattered.
Building Bridges in Simple Ways
This is what building bridges can look like.
Not always big or complicated. Sometimes it starts with something as simple as a sticker and grows into an opportunity to make a difference.
At St. Gabriel, students saw how even small actions can have a lasting impact.
And that is a lesson worth holding onto.
