Learn, Grow and Explore New Opportunities With The OCSB
Make the most of summer with the Ottawa Catholic School Board’s Summer School programs.
Whether students want to earn a credit, strengthen their skills, or try something new, Summer School offers flexible, supportive learning designed to help every student succeed and stay engaged.
Open to all students, regardless of school board, OCSB Summer School provides a welcoming environment where students can stay on track, get ahead, and build confidence in their learning.
Reach Ahead Courses
Students can earn a full credit toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma this summer through a range of Grade 9 to 12 courses.
Courses are teacher-supported and offered in two formats:
Blended Learning
A combination of in-person instruction and required scheduled online learning.
E-Learning
A fully online experience with flexible, independent learning.
Students may enrol in one Reach Ahead course.

8:30 am to 3:30 pm
Credit Recovery Achievement Centre
This program supports students who were not able to successfully complete a course during the school year.
With guidance and targeted support, students can recover credits and get back on track.
Participation is based on a recommendation from the student’s home school Credit Recovery Team. Students must have achieved a minimum of 30 percent in the original course.
Eligible students will be contacted by their school.

Skills Builder (Grades 6-8) / Conversational English (Grades 9-12)
These programs focus on building confidence and strengthening essential skills in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Skills Builder (Grades 6 to 8)
Designed for students working at Level 2 or below, this program supports growth in reading, writing, numeracy, study habits, and organization.
Students may also participate in Core French literacy support to strengthen their French communication skills.
Transportation is available for eligible students.
Conversational English (Grades 9 to 12)
A 55-hour non-credit course designed for students who are new to English. Students build foundational communication skills in a welcoming and supportive setting.
Programs are offered at St. Matthew High School and St. Pius X High School.

Specialist High Skills Major, Cooperative Education
Cooperative Education allows students to earn credits while gaining valuable real world experience through workplace placements.
This program is available to Grade 11 students enrolled in a Specialist High Skills Major and offers flexibility for those who need to complete required co-op credits outside the regular school year.
Students can earn up to 2 credits through their SHSM program.
Space is limited. Students are encouraged to speak with their guidance counsellor to learn more and secure a placement.

Indigenous Summer Program
The Indigenous Summer Program offers students the opportunity to earn or recover credits through meaningful, culturally grounded learning.
Students will engage in land-based learning, elder teachings, and experiences that honour and reflect Indigenous knowledge and traditions.
The program is offered in person at St. Pius X High School.
