Friday Feeling | Meaning, Music, and Movement

This week’s #ocsbFridayFeeling celebrated powerful moments of learning, where music, storytelling, innovation, and service came to life across our schools.

The arts took centre stage this week. Through Bluesfest’s Blues in the Schools program, talented Canadian musicians filled hallways with the sounds of guitars, singing, and percussion, introducing students to the rich history of blues music and its ability to tell stories and connect people across cultures. Students were equally captivated by performances exploring the evolution of B-boying, a street dance style rooted in the early days of hip-hop culture. Through rhythm, movement, and expression, students discovered how the arts can bring communities together.

The week also reflected the spirit of service that defines our community. During Lent, St. Bernadette School is hosting a food drive in support of the Stittsville Food Bank, collecting boxes of cereal and pancake mix. Donations will continue to be accepted until March 23rd. We are reminded that even small acts of generosity can make a difference. Lent calls us to reflect on how we can care for others through prayer, sacrifice, and service, and supporting local food banks is one way that we can put that call into action.

Across our schools, the arts and acts of service came together this week to show that learning reaches far beyond the classroom. Whether through music, movement, creativity, or caring for others, students discovered that their voices, talents, and generosity all have the power to make a difference.
