Friday Feeling | Peace Grows and Joy Shines

This week’s #ocsbFridayFeeling captured the quiet beauty of Advent unfolding across our classrooms. Students reflected upon why this season matters: it invites us to slow down, notice one another, and share hope in small but meaningful ways.

Students began to decorate Christmas trees with care, each ornament adding warmth to their shared space. Advent candles were lit as students talked about hope, peace, and joy, connecting these themes to the kindness they show each day. These shared moments helped students understand that Advent is not just something we count down to, but something we experience together as a community.

Learning continued to shine in other ways. A safety demonstration by brave Ottawa Firefighters sparked curiosity, science labs encouraged hands-on discovery, and student athletes showed incredible perseverance through movement. Seasonal crafts brightened classrooms, reminding everyone that joy can come from the simple things we make ourselves.

Throughout the week, one message kept returning: Advent is a journey we take side by side. When students encourage and care for one another, they help our whole community prepare with open hearts.
