Standing Against Racism Week: What’s Your Story?
Our third annual OCSB Standing Against Racism Week is March 17-21, 2025, and this year, we’re focusing on the power of personal stories. “What’s Your Story?” is more than just a theme—it’s an opportunity to reflect, build relationships, and challenge assumptions. By taking the time to truly listen and understand one another, we foster empathy, inclusivity, and a stronger commitment to standing against racism every day.
What to Expect
The week is filled with meaningful activities and discussions designed to deepen understanding and spark important conversations:
- Daily Themed Prayers to encourage reflection and action in our faith-based commitment to equity.
- Virtual Read-Alouds with authors Yolanda T. Marshall and Brittany Luby, bringing diverse stories to our youngest learners.
- French Canadian Poetry Session with poet Béatrice Lafortune, exploring storytelling through poetry.
- High School Career Panels feature professionals from diverse backgrounds and showcase pathways to success.
- National Gallery of Canada Presentations focused on Indigenous art and the stories behind it.
A Special Event for Parents & Educators
We’re also co-hosting an evening with Ottawa CSPA/PIC designed for parents, guardians, and educators. Special guest Pardeep Nagra will lead a discussion on how personal stories shape our understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion—and how we can take meaningful action in our schools and communities.
