A tentative agreement has been reached between the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and the provincial government thus averting a strike at all Ottawa Catholic Schools.

All Ottawa Catholic schools and daycares will be open on Monday, October 7, 2019, at their regular scheduled times. Director of Education, Denise Andre said, “I would like to begin by extending my sincere thanks to parents, students and community partners. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked through the challenges of last week. This is good news for our students and staff.”

The terms of the new agreement will remain confidential until the ratification process is complete. CUPE employees include educational assistants (EAs), early childhood educators (ECEs), office administrators (OAs), library technicians, learning technology technicians, full-time adult ESL Instructors and a number of the central Board staff.
