The Ottawa Catholic School Board has several committees that meet regularly to ensure our students receive quality Catholic education. These committees can consist of trustees, staff, parents, students, and/or community representatives. Committees make formal recommendations to the Board at regular Board meetings. Clicking on the title of any committee will take you to that committee’s page, where you can get more details on what they do and contact information.
The OCSB is committed to providing accessible places to work and learn. Our Accessibility Committee meets several times a year to work on making our schools and online information tools accessible by all. The OCSB Accessibility Plan includes practices and procedures which fulfill our obligations to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Ontario Disability Act (ODA).
The OCSB’s Audit Committee assists the Board of Trustees in fulfilling its duties related to governance and oversight as prescribed by Ontario Regulation 361/10 – September 2010. The committee meets three to four times per year to oversee the financial accounting and reporting practices and issues, the Board’s system of internal controls, the internal and external audit function, the Board’s system for monitoring compliance with legislative requirements, and the Board’s risk management system
The OCSB’s Environmental Stewardship Committee includes principals, teachers and representatives from our many departments who aim to turn environmental concerns into action. They build resources, form partnerships and challenge schools and their communities to get involved in preserving our planet. Each school also has its own Environmental Stewardship Committee which works through school-specific issues while promoting action, awareness and responsibility.
The OCSB’s Historical Committee is comprised of both current and retired Board staff, Board trustees, and additional volunteers, who meet to discuss ways in which to preserve the history and culture of Catholic Education in the Ottawa area.
Parents/guardians play an important role in the success of their children in school. The Ottawa Catholic School Board is proud of the collaborative relationship it has with the parents on our Parent Involvement Committee (PIC), our school councils, and the Catholic School Parents’ Association (CSPA), and supports the vision of parents as partners in their children’s education.
The OCSB’s Privacy & Information Management Committee (PIM) works to raise awareness on matters of public trust and confidence with respect to privacy. We understand that it is vital that this privacy culture be embedded into our daily practices to support the needs and expectations of parents, students and staff with respect to information security and the protection of personal information.
The OCSB’s Special Education and Advisory Committee (SEAC) makes recommendations to the Board in respect of any matter affecting the establishment, development, and delivery of special education programs and services for exceptional pupils.
The Ottawa-Carleton Research and Evaluation Advisory Committee (OCREAC) is made up of members from both the Ottawa Catholic School Board and the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. The role of the committee is to support and encourage research that contributes to educational knowledge by carefully reviewing proposals to conduct non-Board initiated research.
