
Today, the Provincial Government announced they would be extending educator-led remote learning until Monday, January 25, to keep students and staff safe. The Ontario Chief Medical Officer made this decision in collaboration with other health experts due to the rising COVID-19 cases in Ontario. Read more in the Ontario News Release.
How does this impact students?
All elementary and high school students will continue with remote learning and return to in-person-learning on Monday, January 25, 2021. Students with special needs will continue to receive online support during this extension.
Remote Learning
- Assessment continues during the extended remote learning period.
- The instructional day includes both synchronous learning and asynchronous learning activities for all grades K-12.
- Not all learning experiences will require online computer-related instruction.
Student Transportation
There will be no yellow school buses for either elementary or secondary students until Monday, January 25, 2021.
Extended Day Program
During the lockdown period, there will be no Extended Day Programs permitted in elementary schools.
Child Care Centres in Schools
Emergency child care will continue to be made available for health care and frontline workers through the City of Ottawa.
EarlyON Child and Family Centres will continue to provide virtual activities from January 4-22. In-person activities will resume on January 25.

If your child needs an electronic device, please contact your child’s school to make arrangements. We will make every effort to accommodate those in need of a device.
