Teachers wanting to apply for a permanent teaching position with the Ottawa Catholic School Board must first apply to the Long Term Occasional (LTO) Roster in accordance with Regulations 274/12 and 148/13 – Hiring Practices. Applicants must have a minimum of 10 months seniority that is within five years and a minimum of 20 full teaching days to be considered for the roster. Subsequent to this, upon completion of a minimum four (4) month LTO Contract, and having received a positive evaluation from the principal, the occasional teacher may be considered for permanent hire. Interviews will take place as follows
If selected for a permanent position, at the time of hire, you will be required to provide a negative tuberculin test (obtained within the last twelve (12) months) and a police records check (vulnerable sector) obtained within the last six (6) months.

Each year, the Board offers a professional development conference, open to administrative and support staff. The A Better Me, A Better You Conference focusses on the theme of personal wellness and self-improvement. Interactive sessions are delivered by educators, management consultants, and health and wellness practitioners who outline ideas and activities related to achieving that all important work-life balance. This conference is one example of the initiatives that is funded by the Support Staff Professional Development and Training Committee (SSPD).
