Casual Learning Technology Help
Description: Under the direction of the Technical Support Team Supervisor, the casual computer technician helps to maintain software and hardware in a networked environment. Duties may include configuring and repairing computer hardware; installing new equipment; supporting the network; installing and testing networked software; other duties may include installing, testing, configuring, and supporting various enterprise applications (single tier and multi-tier) in virtual and physical environments; and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a two-year Community college diploma in a related field; four years of related experience; and be proficient in Microsoft Products, academic and diagnostic software, business software, Diagnostic Tools, and Microsoft servers etc. Working knowledge of server virtualization software and task automation through scripting is an asset. The incumbent will have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; excellent technical diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently. A valid Driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle is essential. Individuals who possess an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Supply Library Technician(s)
Description: Under the general direction of the Principal, the Library Technician operates the school Library Commons and information services to meet the needs of staff and students; promotes authors, books and special events; performs administrative functions associated with the library and/or school; coordinates volunteers’ activities; and performs other duties, as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have completed secondary school, have a two-year Community College diploma (i.e. Library Technician diploma); and two to three-years related experience. Expertise with Destiny, L4U, computer hardware and software, and various AV equipment. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential. Individuals who possess an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered. The use of a personal vehicle may be required.

Supply Interpreter(s)
Description: Under the direction of the Principal, the Interpreter is responsible for providing interpreting and other support services to deaf and/or hard of hearing students. The Interpreter facilitates communication among deaf and/or hard of hearing students and their hearing peers, the classroom teacher and other personnel in the school system; offers tutoring and/or note taking services to deaf and/or hard of hearing students when necessary; participates in team meetings and assists the classroom teacher in fostering positive attitudes toward deafness; and performs other duties, as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a Secondary school diploma; a three-year Community college diploma in sign language interpreting; one and a half years of related experience; excellent communication skills; and the ability to establish a rapport and work with individuals on a one-to-one basis. Membership in the Association of Visual Language Interpreters of Canada (A.V.L.I.C.) and the Ontario Interpreter Services (O.I.S.) would be an asset. Individuals who possess an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Supply Early Childhood Educator(s) (ECE)
Description: Under the general direction of the Principal, the Early Childhood Educator partners with the classroom teacher(s) to plan and implement a full day early learning program. The Early Childhood Educator collaborates in the design of high quality and effective play-based programs and environments. As part of the Early Learning program team, s/he supports enhanced physical, cognitive, emotional and social development within the context of a Catholic learning environment.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a Secondary School Diploma; an Early Childhood Education diploma or degree; registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators; minimum of two years experience; recent experience with kindergarten age children preferred; and current First Aid and CPR certification. Catholicity, bilingualism and experience working in a school setting would be assets.

Supply Educational Assistant
Description: The Educational Assistant is hired as a support staff to a classroom where there is a child with specific needs to be met (developmentally delayed, physically handicapped, deaf, blind, or experiencing behaviour/social/medical problems), or a special education classroom (social adjustment, communication, learning disability). Consequently, each assignment will be different. However, in a global and generic sense, the Educational Assistant provides support in the students' academic development; responds to the students' physical, emotional and hygienic needs; acts as a team member of the school in any area which may directly assist the assigned student(s), or may contribute to the educational program as a whole; and performs other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have one of the following College diplomas: Developmental Service Worker, Child & Youth Worker or have a diploma in a related discipline; one year of practical experience working with children with special needs; excellent interpersonal and communication skills. First Aid, CPR, Braille and/or Signing are considered an asset.

Casual Caretakers
Description: The Caretaker performs cleaning and general maintenance of school interior/exterior, in accordance with established standards; performs daily routine security and safety checks; and performs other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: some secondary school education where the ability to read and write has been developed; one year of related work experience; basic knowledge of mechanical systems; knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and its regulations; ability to work independently, performing physically strenuous work. Please note that an acceptable Police Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector is a condition of any employment with this Board and will be required following a successful interview. Your own personal vehicle will be required.
Status: on-call; must be available days, evenings, Saturdays.

Each year, the Board offers a professional development conference, open to administrative and support staff. The A Better Me, A Better You Conference focusses on the theme of personal wellness and self-improvement. Interactive sessions are delivered by educators, management consultants, and health and wellness practitioners who outline ideas and activities related to achieving that all important work-life balance. This conference is one example of the initiatives that is funded by the Support Staff Professional Development and Training Committee (SSPD).
